INTERVENTIONS
Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD)
Done 24 hours to 1 week after incident is concluded
A 2 to 3 hour group discussion
Personnel must be off duty
Not an operations critique
Defusing
A shortened group discussion, lasting less than 1 hour
Usually done 6-12 hours after the incident
Intended to prepare personnel for the most immediate stress reactions
Demobilization
Used in an extended, large-scale incident
Personnel are mandated to attend
30 minute sessions - 10 minutes of education, 20 minutes of rest, food, and fluids
On-Scene Support
Provision of support, consultation to command staff
Peer support to personnel as needed
Never CISD or defusing on the scene
Crisis Management Briefings (CMB)
Large group crisis intervention in response to terrorism, disasters and violence
For larger groups of 10 to 300
Individual Services (One- on- One)
Assessments, consultation, and referrals
Peer support
Individual debriefings when only one/two persons are involved
Family Services
Group debriefings for spouses, children for major incidents
Spouse/child consultation and referral services
